Meet the person behind the work

Hi, I’m Leigh. I help small businesses go from chaos to converting.

I’m a WordPress developer, SEO strategist, and marketing consultant based in Raleigh, NC — with over 20 years of experience and a genuine obsession with making websites that actually work for the people who own them.

Everyone always asks. Here’s the real answer.

Fresh out of college, I spent the first years of my career working at marketing agencies. Long hours, late nights, the whole thing. And I’d joke with anyone who’d listen: “One day I’m going to work for myself, and I’m only going to work Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.”

I knew even then it was a fantasy — nobody really builds a business on three days a week. But the idea stuck with me, because it was really about something bigger: the belief that work should leave room for life, not swallow it whole.

When I finally did take the leap and start my own company in 2008, I named it after that joke. It’s been a daily reminder ever since — to work hard, work smart, and never lose sight of why you’re doing it in the first place.

The journey

From agency grind to doing it her way.

I didn’t stumble into this. I spent years in the trenches — coding at agencies, engineering at Cisco, managing development teams — before I built anything of my own.

That foundation is what makes TWTH different. I’ve seen how large organizations build digital products. I’ve led teams, managed timelines, and shipped complex technical projects. When I started working with small businesses, I brought all of that with me — just without the bloated overhead and the account managers who don’t know your name.

The clients I work with get the kind of strategic thinking and technical depth that used to be reserved for companies with agency budgets. And they get to work directly with the person doing the work — me.

Why this matters to you

What 20+ years actually buys you.

Experience isn’t just a number. Here’s what two decades of doing this work, across every kind of small business, means for the people I work with.

I’ve seen what doesn’t work

I’ve audited hundreds of sites that look fine but don’t convert. I know the patterns instantly — the buried CTAs, the unclear messaging, the slow load times killing rankings. You don’t have to figure that out the hard way.

Strategy before design

My engineering and MBA background means I always start with the business question: what does this site need to accomplish? The design follows the strategy — not the other way around.

You work directly with me

No account managers. No junior developers. When you hire TWTH Consulting, you get me — the person who’s done this for 20 years — on every call, every deliverable, every decision.

I look at the whole picture

I don’t hand you a website and disappear. I look at how your website, email, social, and in-person presence all connect — and help you build a plan where everything works together.

I speak your language

Most small business owners aren’t developers. I translate the technical stuff into plain language, walk you through everything, and make sure you feel confident — never talked past.

I’ve been where you are

I built TWTH from nothing in 2008. I know what it feels like to juggle running a business while trying to grow it. That empathy shapes everything about how I work with my clients.

How I work

The things I believe about doing this well.

01

Honesty over hype
I’ll tell you when something won’t work and why — even if it’s what you were hoping to hear. You deserve a straight answer, not a sales pitch.

02

Understanding before building
I don’t start designing until I understand your business, your customers, and what success actually looks like for you. The strategy drives the work, always.

03

Your independence matters
I build sites you can actually manage. I teach you what I know. The goal is to make you more capable — not more dependent on me.

04

Balance is not a luxury
TWTH started as a joke about working less. But the spirit behind it is real — I believe good work and a good life are both possible, and I help my clients build businesses that support both.
